National Association for the Blind (NAB), Bhopal branch was founded by NAB, State branch indore on 27th August 1986. In the last 35 years Bhopal district branch has been doing various activities and initiatives for the Welfare, development, and benefits of visually impaired children.
National Association for the Blind, Bhopal branch is working on the core mission of Training & Education for Visually Impaired Children along with Employment, Rehabilitation and involving them in the mainstream of the society.
It was observed that in the rural area visually impaired children are not having proper resources & basic facilities like education, shelter & food. Considering these problems, in 1996 NAB, Bhopal established a Hostel and rehabilitation center in Bhopal with the help of organization. In this rehabilitation center all the facilities related to their Food, shelter & education were provided free of cost to the rural children between the age group of 6-16 years.
This Center is also having dedicated full-time teachers, staff, warden, driver along with a transport facility for the students.
NAB, Bhopal organized and ensured that students participate in various cultural and sports activities within and outside the organization for their overall development & involvement in the mainstream. These initiatives resulted in their fast and rapid involvement in the mainstream of society along with best possible education from our side. Every year 40-50 visually impaired students from rural areas are getting benefits from this initiative which is running successfully till date.
In the last 10-15 years many visually impaired students have successfully completed their education and become financially independent as they are working in various administrative positions of private and government organization

This centre was started from 5 students in 1996 and with the support of various individual, groups and society it is continuously growing day by day. Considering and appreciating honest and real contribution to the society one Noble lady donated a plot of 2000 Square feet for the hostel and rehabilitation centre. In continuation to this donation one more family of 30-40 persons donated a huge amount for the construction of new hostel with all the facilities for the students.
This resulted in the newly constructed NAB, Bhopal centre at Baghmugaliya, Bhopal. This centre is having all the facilities like study rooms, living area, computer lab, playing garden , separate kitchen with modern facilities like automatic roti maker etc. This Centre is also having dedicated full time teachers, staff, warden, driver along with transport facility for the students. All these facilities are available and possible due to small and big contribution of people like you and me in every possible form.
Key Objectives & Contribution to Society:
- Initiated and executed “Integrated Education Program” in Bhopal for the especially abled students in the year 1986.
- Initiated & conducted various Sports Activities for the especially abled persons.
- Established Hostel and Rehabilitation centre for the especially abled students in the year 1996.
- Initiated several steps for the employment of visually impaired.
- Providing consultancy and creating awareness to visually impaired for their human rights.
- Establishment and Coordination of various organisation, association, community and persons working for the welfare and development of visually impaired by providing a platform and establishing a close coordination between them.
- Actively Working for the prevention and treatment of blindness.
